Rebel Church - Think Different from RebelChurch on Vimeo.
This past Sunday night, we celebrated 1 year of RebelChurch. It's so hard to believe that a year has gone by. I know we say that often, but seriously, this has been one of those moments that has left me blown away about all that has happened in one short year. It seems like it was just yesterday that a handful of us were meeting in the living room of my house planning this thing that would eventually be called RebelChurch. Now people have often asked me, what is RebelChurch? To which my response would be that after seeing a year worth of ministry, thousands upon thousands of people walk through the door, prayer meetings, city missions opportunties, and countless people making decisions for Christ, we still haven't figured out exactly what RebelChurch is, other than defining it as a movement of non-conformist seeking to reach a generation in desperate need of Jesus Christ.
We have seen so many cool things happen! We have seen the rising up of a new wave of young leaders seeking to bring Glory to Jesus as they carry the Name of Jesus. We have seen a beautiful unity between churches as they come to an event that isn't promoting "a" church but it is seeking to build "the" Church of Jesus Christ. Again, amazing things in which some were expected; but others a pleasant surprise.
Now the service that happened last night was one that I will never forget! The atmosphere was electric! The worship caused us to touch heaven. It was massive. There were people sitting all over the aisles and on the front. People were standing in the back and still there were about 200 people that could not get inside. The Rebel team worked tireless around the clock to make sure that this wouldn't be just an event, but that it would be an encounter between the God of Love and the people HE loves! Again, the mantra we live by is, we are a people passionate about God, passionate about people, and consequently passionate about creating a platform for the two to meet. And that is one of the facets of what RebelChurch has become. It is a platform for God to encounter a lost and dying world. And that is exactly what we have seen happen for the last year. Lourdes and I couldn't be more excited about all that is happening! We are so proud of the Rebel Team! You guys bring it hard, at all times, with a whatever it takes approach that God is using to impact a generation of people here in Miami! Now the question is, now that we have just had the most effective RebelChurch service, what are we going to do next? Well as I shared at the end of the service, RebelChurch as we know it, is going to go into a different mode for the next few months. The Rebel Love events will still be happening and we may do a couple of events here and there, but the big Sunday events will go quiet for a few months. But as the Sunday events go quiet, the Rebel Movement should be growing louder. For you see, RebelChurch isn't a place we attend, it is a people that we are! So the movement will continue to make an impact. Stay tuned to our website, twitter, and facebook as we will be constantly communicating to you. And remember to be radically devoted to His plan and His purposes. To quote a good friend, we are "a momentum not our own." God is in this thing! He is the One leading it! The next big Rebel event will be at the ONE Conference! If you have not yet registered for this thing, you should. This is something that should not be missed! And then prepare...for the Rebel will rise again... Looking forward to all that God is yet to do in our city! Love you all...
